What is My Magic UW?
An AI workspace that already knows your classes. It brings in Canvas, your calendar and UW GitLab, keeps every assignment with its instructions, opens what you need next, and builds practice in the style of your course.
What do I need to run it?
A Mac or Windows computer and your UW sign-in. For the AI, all you need is Claude Code, Codex or Gemini CLI running on your machine. Or let My Magic UW pick a local model that fits your computer.
Does it work outside computer science?
Yes. It reads whatever your courses publish in Canvas: modules, pages, files, quizzes, discussions and announcements. How much it can do depends on what your instructors post.
Can I download it today?
My Magic UW is being built for Badger BuildFest 2026. The download will be on this site as soon as it's ready.
Where is my course data stored?
On your device. When a feature needs your AI, only the context for that request is sent, such as the relevant course excerpt and your question, and My Magic UW shows you what's included.
Does my UW password ever go to an AI?
Never. Passwords, cookies and sign-in tokens are never sent to any AI provider.
Can it submit or post for me?
No. My Magic UW reads your school systems. It never submits assignments, enrolls you in anything or posts on your behalf.
Will it help me break my course’s AI rules?
It checks your course's AI policy before helping. If the policy limits a request, it quotes the policy and suggests something that is allowed.
What is Jev?
Jev makes the small judgments behind the scenes, like what matters most today. We pay for it and run it through our own server, and it gets only what it needs for each decision. A fully local mode turns it off, with some features limited.
How much does it cost?
The My Magic UW app is a one-time $10 purchase. The data pipeline underneath it is free and open source. This is planned pricing for the prototype.
Do I also pay for AI?
You pay your AI provider directly for your own usage. A local model costs nothing. Jev processing is on us.
Can I use the data pipeline without the app?
Yes. It's open source on GitHub, and its local MCP server lets your own AI app read your course data.
